Ever just not known where you wanted to go or what you wanted to do? Kind of a tailspin of everything you have going on…or the complete opposite and felt that you have no purpose and no direction? Yeah, been there. Not long ago I gave up a fabulous…FABULOUS!!!…job for my husband’s job. I was lost…without purpose and unvalued. My education and career have always been an important part of life; now what was I going to do?!
Some may think I should have the mentality of “Wahoooo! I don’t have to work and can do anything I want!” Not the case. No job meant not my own money. Yeah, yeah, I was married, and what’s mine is his and what’s his is
mine…blah blah. Did I mention my career and the fact that I made my own money (ie. my independence!) was part of who I am? Not having my own cha-ching is not fun. All these changes and giving up what I feel is part of my identity was making me sick, literally. But, gotta look on the for the silver lining, right?
We moved across the country and I had no job. He lost this new job that brought us out here, but found another one 1.5 hours away from our house. Discombobulated times, let me tell ya! In the meantime, we were in limbo…again…where are we going to go? Whose career should we focus on this time? Talk about crazy life decisions ~ again….
Alice: “Would you tell me, please, which way
I ought to go from here?”
The Cheshire Cat: “That depends a good deal on
where you want to get to.”
Alice: “I don’t know where I want to go.”
The Cheshire Cat: “Then it doesn’t matter which way you go.”
I had to stop and listen to my inner voice and find my silver lining ~ the journey! Still wondering what I was going
to do, I decided to create my “pearl”. (ie. the world was now my oyster!) I signed up for the Colorado Master Gardener program, a French class, and a wine class. I fell head-over-heels for this pearl-in-the-making! Meet new people.
Join clubs and groups. Explore this new state and all the magnificent things Denver and the surrounding areas have to offer.
My plan? To Focus on what my passions and interests are. Take my background, experiences, knowledge and education, and swirl that all with my passions and my new adventures to create what I am meant to do. Focusing on the journey and finding the learning opportunities instead of what I have given up is what I need to. That is not easy, but I need to understand everything happens for a reason and these choices were put in front of me to create my future
path. Bigger, better things to come. Things, people, experiences, knowledge, opportunities, lifestyle changes that I need for my future self.
The meaning behind believing in creating my pearl is there are great things ahead for me! So, what kind of pearl am I stirring up….ahhh, the fun things to swirl about….
